Evan's Baptism

On Saturday, 5.23.09, our nephew, Evan, got baptized.

E was so excited about his too big baptism onesie grandma got him. But quite comfy...

Nate and his cousin, Megan, doing some reading before the baptism.

The godparents. Evan's Uncle Steve and Aunt Amy.

E was listening very carefully to every word.

The godfather was asked to light the candle on the alter. He did a very good job of holding fire while keeping his hand in his pocket the entire time.

Evan is a lucky boy.

The Book family.

The cousins.

E and I were wearing the same color. I forgot to take the tags off. Wearing tags with a whitish dress is very visable.

The Godfather's gifts with his godson.

Speakeasy

After enjoying tapas with my parents Friday night, we ended up at KC's new "speakeasy" that is a little secretive but not really.

Because space is limited, you ring the door bell and are led in (although we didn't do it the right way). Their cocktails are pricey, but they are real cocktails and they are so good. Although it will not replace our neighborhood bar & grill, it was swanky and fun and we may have learned a thing or two about fancy ice.

Godfathering 101

This is a big weekend.

One of the loves of our life, our 10-week old nephew, Evan, is getting baptized on Saturday, and his Uncle is going to hold him for the very first time!

And Then Slugger Took Me Down...

Last Thursday night was Girls' Night Out at the K!

Our friend Monica hooked us up with great seats and a parking pass for a fun in the sun Thursday night.

Good margaritas, good beer, good people watching, funny conversations and not-so-good baseball (but that's okay when it's with the girls).

A few minutes before this picture was taken, Slugger randomly tapped me on the head. We then got our picture taken with him. As you can see, Slugger put his head on my mine. He not only put his head on mine, but he was pushing my head down. It hurt and it was weird.

Jen, Allison, Monica and me having our picture taken multiple times by the "husband" whose "wife" made him take pictures of us. They were exactly my parents. He said we brought a different type of energy to the game. I caught his sarcasm :)

Who Needs a Favorite Stuffed Animal?

Probably two years ago, we became the owners of a western rattle snake head thanks to a neighbor.

Steve gave it to our oldest nephew, Luke, who loves this thing; probably because it came from his Uncle Steve.

Last Friday when Luke's classmates were bringing their favorite stuffed animals to show-n-tell, Luke brought his western rattle snake and wrote the following:

Birthday Wishes Four Times

Our nephew, Ty, turned four on May 9!
Some would say he was a bit excited about his birthday...or consumed with it!
We were so happy to be in Des Moines on his actual birthday this year, because it doesn't happen very often.

Our Iowa Life

We spent last weekend in our beloved Iowa celebrating the 4th birthday of our nephew, Ty (more on that later), and Mother's Day with both of our families.

Saturday night started off like most Saturday nights do by me dropping a bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade on my friend, Betsy's (who also lives next door to Andy/Jamie), driveway while sober. As all good brother-in-law's do, Andy duck taped my hand. Smart man; those Seilers.

Our buddy (everyone's buddy), Joe, and my dad.

Betsy and me! Betsy spent some time in KC while she was in medical school and we became good friends. In fact we were going to live together until Des Moines called her name for her residency. Next thing you know we reconnect and she lives right next door to Steve's brother and sister-in-law!

Damn, I wish I could grow Joe's hair.

This photo scares me.

Their wives are amazingly smiley.

I am going to get my Tan Towel out ASAP.

Feliz día de las madres

Happy Mother's Day to both of our moms. Lucky for us we've seen them both in the past 24-hours. While we've unsucessfully given my mom her card that's in a language we cannot read, and while we did write (in front of her) and give the same card to Steve's mom this morning, I know they both know how much we love and appreciate them.

This image above is a given as it relates to Steve's sister and me since the guys could care less. But it's the only non-offensive image I could find, so there you go...

Nephews-o-rama

Here are some of the latest and greatest photos of our Seiler nephews in the WDM from the past month or so.

Lil Steve (aka Cael), Luke and Ty.

No wonder Cael was screaming, his cute chubby legs and rain boots were not friends.

I have mentioned it only makes sense Cael comes with us since he is his Uncle Steve. No takers yet, but we're persuasive.

Brookside Art Annual

Last weekend was the Brookside Art Annual. It's a block away so there were five neighborhood parties to partake in!

Here are some photos from Saturday night.

I have no idea why Nate is wearing his hood, but Uncle Steve is showing Nate and Dalton something creepy and crawly (that Nate, of course, loved).

Evan was the youngest attendee at our friends Scott and Kellie's party by one week. We start 'em young.

Dalton, Logan, Nate, Sophia and PJ playing in the secret back yard. I'm sure Mario was looking for light sticks as this picture was being taken.

And then Nate discovered the smoke machine. Yes, like a smoke machine that's in a bar (but outside). It smelled like vanilla and then strawberry.

I am unsure of what Nate's love of this smoke says about him...

The hostess, Kellie, Leslie and me.

Rachel is quite the artist (under Steve & Ann's very popular canopy tent). We are going to miss her when she moves to Bentonville, AR. I was disappointed the kegs were too high end to do keg stands. What is happening to this world?

Leslie, the host, Scott, and me jamming (I wish you could hear the music).

God only knows what Steve was telling Leslie. Steve was having a good time to say the least.

Why is this photo of us so tall?

Oh, Those Ft. Dodge Girls...

I am so behind on blogging that I'm now discussing events that happened more than a week ago. Unacceptable. I'm sorry, mom and Barb.

Anyway, the weekend of April 25th, my sister-in-law's closest high school friends flew in from all over to meet baby Evan!

On Saturday night I hit the town with these wild and crazy Ft. Dodge gals.

Theresa, Krista, Jodi, Ann and me before loading in the mini-van.

Jodi, Krista, Theresa and me sitting in front of a fire pit at the Power & Light District living room. The first picture taken I was sitting like a truck driver. Again, sorry mom and Barb.

Jodi, Ann, Theresa and me at the worst "wanna be" mexican restaurant ever created.

We're now back on the plaza in our comfort zone on the roof of O'Dowds. Funny stories, funny fake names and funny people were on the roof of O'Dowds.

Ann and I have very big eyes.
